Cruelty left young tiger Electra unable to walk. Please help provide her with a better future.
Electra is less than a year old and already human cruelty has cost her the ability to walk.
This young tiger was kept as a pet in Ukraine by people who had no understanding of how to care for her. They fed her food that could not support her growing body. Malnutrition damaged her spine and prevented her bones from developing normally. She was completely crippled.
Human ignorance has left a young tiger crippled – help give her the treatment she needs.
When Electra was rescued from the Ukraine war zone and taken to our partner, the Wild Animal Rescue Centre (WARC) in Kyiv, the veterinary assessment was devastating. The veterinarians said there was no hope she would walk again and recommended euthanasia.
Our partner refused to give up on Electra, determined to give her one more chance of life. Their team began intensive treatment and slowly there has been improvement.

Electra can now stand.
For a young tiger once thought beyond help, standing is an enormous step forward. It gives us hope that, with continued treatment, she may one day be able to move around freely.
Please donate to Animal Survival International today to help Electra continue her treatment. She has come this far. She needs our help to literally take the next steps.
In Ukraine, it is legal to keep wild animals as pets but there is a particular cruelty in taking a wild animal into a home and failing to meet even her most basic needs. Electra could not choose what she was fed. She could not seek the care she needed. Everything depended on the people who kept her, and they failed her while her body was still developing.
She should have had the chance to grow strong. Instead, she is spending her youth recovering from harm that should never have happened.
We need your help to fund Electra’s ongoing care and treatment.
Rescue brought her safety, but it could not undo that damage overnight. Every little improvement has come through intensive care, and there is still a long way to go.
Electra’s treatment will take a long time. We are determined to help her through it and we ask you to stand beside us.

Your donation will help fund her continued veterinary treatment and the appropriate nutrition and daily care she needs as she grows.
Helping a tiger like Electra is really tough in a war zone where treatment costs are high and medical supplies sometimes limited. But we have high hopes for Electra, while recognising how much remains uncertain. Our goal is to give her the best possible chance of a comfortable, active life, with her wellbeing guiding every decision about her care.
Electra has already suffered because people failed to understand what she needed. Now she has caring people working hard to help her heal. With your support, we can help them stay beside her through the months ahead.
Please give whatever you can to Animal Survival International today. Help us build on Electra’s first, precious progress and give this young tiger the chance of a better life.
