Leave a legacy
Protect the animals you love. Create a lasting partnership with Animal Survival International. Your Will makes it possible.
By including Animal Survival International in your Will you will continue to provide help for animals who are threatened because of climate change, habitat destruction, wildlife crime, poor legislation and inadequate law enforcement.
You can make your legacy for a specific amount, a percentage of your estate or specific assets from your estate. Legacies, like other gifts, can be designated for many purposes or given without restriction. At Animal Survival International we are pledged to focus our energies on honouring your wishes and needs.
Legacy information
The first and most important step, once you decide to leave a gift, is to contact a solicitor to help you draw up and execute your will. The solicitor will need to know that our legal name is Animal Survival International USA Ltd, and that our registered address is PO Box 518, Barnstable, MA 02630. It is crucial that your will complies with all legal formalities, in order to be valid and enforceable. Your solicitor will be able to explain how leaving a legacy may provide a tax saving for your estate.
There are three main types of legacies: specific, pecuniary or residuary.
The Specific Legacy
A specific legacy is the gift of a specific item. An example might be providing that your cricket jersey signed by the national team be given to your nephew, Billy, at your death.
I Give To Animal Survival International USA Ltd. of PO Box 518, Barnstable, MA 02630 a [NAME SPECIFIC ITEM/S IN DETAIL] free of tax for the general purposes of the Charity. I declare that the receipt of the Treasurer or other authorised officer of the Charity shall be a full and sufficient discharge to my Executors and Trustees who shall not thereafter be concerned as to the application of this gift.
The Pecuniary Legacy
A pecuniary legacy is the gift of a specified sum of money. An example might be gifting $2,000 to your friend Susan, upon your passing.
I Give To Animal Survival International USA Ltd. of PO Box 518, Barnstable, MA 02630 the sum of [AMOUNT IN WORDS] [AMOUNT IN NUMBERS] free of tax for the general purposes of the Charity. I declare that the receipt of the Treasurer or other authorised officer of the Charity shall be a full and sufficient discharge to my Executors and Trustees who shall not thereafter be concerned as to the application of this gift.
The Residuary Legacy
A residuary legacy is a legacy of all or a portion of the remainder or residue of your estate, after specific and other legacies have been distributed. An example of this type of legacy might be providing that everything that remains after all previous legacies have been satisfied, should be given to Animal Survival International. By naming Animal Survival International as the beneficiary of this residue, you simplify the probate process and ensure that the government does not allocate the remainder of your estate contrary to your wishes.
