Wild animals around the world continue to face devastating threats, from extreme weather and habitat destruction to injury and human-wildlife conflict. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we were able to help animals in urgent need during August.

Southwestern France
Helping wildlife affected by devastating wildfires
Your generosity helped rescue teams respond to this wildfire emergency in France, treating animals for burns, dehydration and trauma, and caring for those orphaned by the flames. Source: CSFL
Catastrophic wildfires in southwestern France destroyed thousands of hectares of wildlife habitat, leaving countless animals injured, displaced and fighting for survival.
Thanks to your generosity, we were able to support our partner, Réseau Centres de Soins Faune Sauvage (RCSFS), as its rescue teams responded to this enormous wildlife emergency. Your donations helped provide emergency veterinary care, medication and vital supplies for animals suffering from burns, dehydration and trauma.
Many young animals were also separated from their mothers and left orphaned as they fled the flames. Your support helped rescue teams care for these vulnerable animals when they had nowhere else to turn.

South Africa – Greater Kruger
Giving Fishan the care he needs

Fishan is a 37-year-old elephant living with his herd in South Africa’s Greater Kruger wilderness. A serious leg injury from years ago, combined with arthritis, means that every step can be painful for him.
Fishan’s herd is his family and staying with them is incredibly important for his wellbeing. Thanks to your generous support, we were able to help provide the specialist veterinary care and ongoing treatment he needs to remain mobile and continue living alongside his herd.
Your donations are helping make life more comfortable for Fishan and giving this much-loved elephant the best possible chance of continuing to live with his family.

Venezuela – Caracas
Supporting Baby, the sloth’s recovery

We were one of the few international animal welfare organizations that managed to send a team to Venezuela after the devastating earthquakes there. Among the animals we helped was Baby, a three-toed sloth.
Baby was only days old when stray dogs killed her mother, leaving the tiny sloth completely dependent on human care. She was rescued by our partner, Fundación Chuwie, received treatment and is growing stronger.
Thanks to your support, Fundación Chuwie has been able to provide Baby with the specialist care and supplies she needs as she grows, while also helping its rescue team care for other sloths in danger.
Sloths are in trouble in Venezuela because the lush forest canopy on which they live is being destroyed by human activity. Baby is one of some 300 sloths rescued each year by our partner. Your donations are helping ensure that rescuers have the equipment and resources they need to respond when sloths are injured, orphaned or trapped.
